Es el primer punto de defensa de toda tu instalación hidráulica. Va a la entrada del agua, antes de cualquier otro equipo de filtración. El agua del acueducto —y con más razón el agua veredal o de pozo— arrastra partículas que no ves: arena, óxido desprendido de la tubería, lodo después de un corte de servicio o de un mantenimiento en la red.
Ese sedimento es el que tapa las llaves, raya los sellos de la grifería, acorta la vida del calentador y, sobre todo, satura prematuramente los filtros finos de tu purificador. Un prefiltro no reemplaza a la ósmosis inversa: la protege y le alarga la vida útil.
Se limpia, no se reemplaza
El vaso transparente deja ver cuándo hay sedimento acumulado. Cuando toca, la limpieza son tres movimientos:
- Abres la purga, sin cerrar el agua ni desarmar el equipo.
- Sale el sedimento: la propia presión arrastra lo retenido hacia el desagüe.
- Cierras y listo. La malla queda limpia. No hay cartucho que reemplazar.
Por eso no tiene consumibles: es la misma malla de acero inoxidable durante toda la vida del equipo.
¿Qué micraje te conviene?
La malla viene en 50, 100, 200, 500 y 1000 micras. Cuanto más bajo el número, más fino filtra:
- 50 micras retiene partículas muy pequeñas y es la opción habitual cuando el objetivo es proteger un equipo de ósmosis inversa.
- 500 o 1000 micras dejan pasar más, pero se purgan con menos frecuencia y sirven donde el agua trae mucho material grueso.

Qué incluye
Llave de ajuste, soporte y cinta de teflón, en los dos diámetros. La manguera para llevar la purga al desagüe también viene incluida.
Instalación
Va sobre la tubería principal, después del medidor y antes de la distribución interna: entra el agua de la acometida o del tanque, y sale hacia la casa ya sin arena ni óxido. Requiere cortar la línea, así que lo instala un plomero o un técnico. En Medellín y el Valle de Aburrá podemos coordinar la instalación: escríbenos.
¿Cuál diámetro necesitas?
Elige el que coincida con el diámetro de la tubería donde se va a instalar. Las dos versiones cuestan lo mismo.
- ½" — para tubería de media pulgada.
- ¾" — para tubería de tres cuartos.

Instalar un prefiltro más angosto que tu acometida reduce el caudal de toda la casa. Preferimos decírtelo antes de que compres.
Si tu casa se abastece de pozo o nacimiento, este prefiltro no es opcional: es obligatorio para que la membrana de tu equipo de ósmosis no se sature en meses.
It is the first line of defence for your whole plumbing system. It goes at the water inlet, before any other filtration equipment. Mains water —and rural or well water all the more so— carries particles you cannot see: sand, rust flaking off the pipes, silt after a supply cut or after maintenance on the network.
That sediment is what clogs taps, scratches the seals on your fittings, shortens the life of your water heater and, above all, saturates the fine filters of your purifier before their time. A pre-filter does not replace reverse osmosis: it protects it and makes it last longer.
You clean it, you do not replace it
The clear bowl lets you see when sediment has built up. When it is time, cleaning is three moves:
- Open the flush valve, without shutting off the water or taking anything apart.
- The sediment comes out: the water pressure itself carries what was caught to the drain.
- Close it and you are done. The mesh is clean. There is no cartridge to replace.
That is why it has no consumables: it is the same stainless steel mesh for the whole life of the unit.
Which mesh size suits you?
The mesh comes in 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 microns. The lower the number, the finer it filters:
- 50 microns catches very small particles and is the usual choice when the point is to protect a reverse osmosis system.
- 500 or 1000 microns let more through, but need flushing less often and work where the water carries a lot of coarse material.

What is included
Tightening wrench, bracket and PTFE tape, in both diameters. The hose to take the flush to the drain is included too.
Installation
It goes on the main line, after the meter and before the indoor distribution: water comes in from the supply or the tank, and goes out to the house already free of sand and rust. It requires cutting into the line, so a plumber or a technician fits it. In Medellín and the Aburrá Valley we can arrange the installation: message us.
Which diameter do you need?
Pick the one that matches the diameter of the pipe where it will be fitted. Both versions cost the same.
- ½" — for half-inch pipe.
- ¾" — for three-quarter-inch pipe.
If you are not sure, look at the pipe coming in from the meter. And if you are still in doubt, message us on WhatsApp with a photo of the meter and the pipe, and we will confirm which one works for you.
Fitting a pre-filter narrower than your supply line reduces the flow to the whole house. We would rather tell you before you buy.
If your home is supplied by a well or a spring, this pre-filter is not optional: it is a must, so that the membrane in your osmosis system does not saturate within months.
