El PPC es la primera línea de defensa de tu equipo. Combina polipropileno, que retiene sedimento y óxido, con carbón activado, que se lleva el cloro y los compuestos que alteran el sabor.
Su trabajo no es solo mejorar el agua: es proteger la membrana, que es la pieza cara del sistema. Un PPC saturado deja pasar cloro, y el cloro acorta la vida de la membrana de ósmosis inversa.
Cuándo cambiarlo
Una vez al año en condiciones normales. Antes si notas que baja el caudal, si el agua vuelve a saber a cloro, o si tu agua trae mucho sedimento.
Si vives en zona veredal o te abasteces de pozo, el prefiltro de sedimentos en la entrada de la casa hace que este cartucho te dure bastante más.
El cambio lo haces tú
Cierras la llave de paso del equipo, desenroscas el portafiltro, cambias el cartucho y vuelves a enroscar. Sin herramientas especiales.

The PPC is your system's first line of defence. It combines polypropylene, which holds back sediment and rust, with activated carbon, which takes away chlorine and the compounds that spoil the taste.
Its job is not only to improve the water: it is to protect the membrane, which is the expensive part of the system. A saturated PPC lets chlorine through, and chlorine shortens the life of the reverse osmosis membrane.
When to change it
Once a year under normal conditions. Sooner if you notice the flow dropping, if the water tastes of chlorine again, or if your water carries a lot of sediment.
If you live in a rural area or you are supplied by a well, the sediment pre-filter at your home inlet will make this cartridge last considerably longer.
You do the swap yourself
Close the system's shut-off valve, unscrew the housing, change the cartridge and screw it back on. No special tools.
Will you need the membrane too? The spare parts kit brings two PPC filters and one membrane, and comes out $150.000 cheaper than buying them separately.
